Our ODGA Ambassadors were very busy in 2023! In July Aidan visited Bakers Dairy in Columbiana County as he is very interested in robotics and they are one of the first farms in Ohio to use a completely robotic milking system for cows. He highly recommends their flavored milks. His favorite is root beer.
Aidan helped present awards at the open goat show at the Hartford Independent fair in Croton, showed his own goats receiving reserve champion with his recorded grade and finally got to meet Laken! |
He also did goat milking demonstrations and created a display with pens, lanyards and magnets to promote dairy goat awareness and ODGA at his home fair.
|
In addition to showing his dairy goats, mini donkeys and mini horse at his home fair in Columbiana County, Aidan placed 3rd in the production goat division and won the bale toss competition. He won the overall project completion award for goats in the county and made some amazing peanut butter goats milk fudge that placed 2nd and had the highest selling fudge basket for $2500. He also helped with a benefit fudge basket for a former 4-h goat member who has been having some health issues with seizures, etc which sold through the fair auction and raised $3000 for that family.

2023 youth ambassadors
laken dyeHi, my name is Laken Dye. Dairy Goats have a special place in my heart for as long as I can remember they have been a part of my life. I love to share and talk about them with people. I have some ideas about how to reach out to the youth across Ohio. I enjoy learning about my herd through different ADGA programs like milk testing and Linear Appraisal. Showing is fun too. Outside of goats I like to sew and draw, you could say I have a creative side. Baking is also one of my favorite things to do.
