WHAT IS THE FUTURITY?
The Buckeye All Breed Doe Futurity is a competition for 2 year old does who are born and raised in Ohio and nominated during the year of their birth. Futurity does entered in the 2 year old class at the Annual Buckeye Classic Show are judged and awarded during the show.
WHY SHOULD I NOMINATE MY DOES?
Competitors can highlight their breeding program showing stock they have produced. Premiums are paid to winners in each breed and a Best In State Award is awarded to the overall Futurity Doe/ Breeder at the Fall Conference or Fall Member Meeting.
HOW DO I NOMINATE MY DOES?
Does are nominated as kids by completing the nomination form and sending payment by check to the Futurity Chairperson or by PayPal. Nomination fee is $15. The nomination can be transferred if a doe is sold and remains in Ohio, and the doe may compete with the new owner as a two year old doe.

ALL BREED DOE FUTURITY RULES
(As of 10/2021 meeting)
The Ohio Dairy Goat Association All Breed Doe Futurity is a class for two-year old registered dairy goats in which the animals are entered in the class in the year of their birth, when they are kids. The show futurity is managed by The Ohio Dairy Goat Association and held annually in conjunction with the Buckeye Classic Show.
To be eligible to show in the class the doe must be nominated as a kid and total fees paid at time of nomination. Nomination involves:
● Completion of the appropriate entry blank with payment of fees by the deadline of 12/31/2022.
● Nomination fee $15.00 per animal nominated, due at time of nomination application is received.
● The fees paid when nominating the animal will be added to those paid by the other entrants for that breed to determine the purse. (The more entries in the breed the higher the purse).
● Futurity fees need to be submitted separate from any and all other ODGA fees per Robin Saum, ODGA Treasurer.
The purse in each breed will be divided as follows:
● 1st Place 40%
● 2nd Place 30%
● 3rd Place 20%
Ten percent (10%) of all nomination fees will be placed in an expense fund (awards, postage, forms, etc.). Nominated animals will be divided into different classes based upon breed (sanctioned breeds therefore AOP is possible). Breeds eligible for the futurity are the following:
● Alpine
● LaMancha
● Nigerian Dwarf
● Nubian
● Oberhasli
● Saanen
● Sable
● Toggenburg
● Guernsey
● Recorded Grade
In the Event the Ohio Buckeye Classic Show Chair/Show Committee opts to combine breeds into AOP, pay out for Futurity will still be based on breed; therefore all breeds will still be separately paid out.
All animals must be Ohio bred, born & raised.
Please notify the Futurity Show Chair (Felicia Starcher) of any changes of ownership of nominated animals. Transferred does are only eligible if transferred to a resident of Ohio.
In keeping with the goal of identifying superior goats bred in Ohio, it is no longer a requirement that the exhibitor be an ODGA member.
It also will be explained to the judge of the class that at no time do animals win by default because they are the only entry or one of the few entries. It must be the judge’s opinion that the animal is a worthy representative of her breed. If the judge does not feel there is an animal worthy of first place, then a second and third place premium can be awarded and first place withheld.
There will be a Best-In-State class. This is a class in which all futurity breed winners will compete for Best-In-State. (No premiums will be given out for this but an award will be given at the ODGA Conference or Fall Annual Meeting).
Winners of the futurity shows will be listed on the web page of The Ohio Dairy Goat Association. An award presentation will be conducted at the association’s annual conference awards program or at the annual membership meeting of The Ohio Dairy Goat Association. All 1st place animals will be made available for photo upon the request of The Ohio Dairy Goat Association. For publicity use. Such photos will remain the property of The Ohio Dairy Goat Association for history and future publications.
