| The Ohio Dairy Goat Association All Breed Doe and Buck Futurity is a class for two-year old registered dairy goats in which the animals are initially entered in the class when they are kids. The show futurity is managed by the Ohio Dairy Goat Association and held annually at the Buckeye Classic show. To be eligible to show in this class, an animal must be nominated each of its years.(kid, yearling, and two-year old) Nomination involves completion of the appropriate entry blank with copy of registration papers and payment of fees by the deadline. A copy of the application for registration is acceptable for kids but a copy of registration papers should be sent by the time yearling fees are due. The first year fee to nominate a kid is $1.00. The fee for the yearling or second year is $2.00. The final fee for the third or two-year old is $2.00. Nominations and first year fees as well as second year fees are due by December 31st of the applicable year. Two year old fees are due by May 31st of the year they will be shown. The fees paid each year when nominating the animal will be added to those paid by the other entrants for that breed to determine the purse.(The more entries in the breed, the higher the purse.) First Place 40% Second Place 30% Third Place 20% 10% will be placed in an expense fund (awards, postage, forms etc.). Nominated animals will be divided into different classes based upon breed and sex. Breeds eligible for the futurity are as follows: Alpine, LaMancha, Nigerian Dwarf, Nubian, Oberhasli, Saanen, Sable, Toggenburg, and Recorded Grade (RG-does only). All animals must be Ohio bred does and bucks, and breeder must be a member of the Ohio Dairy Goat Association. Please notify the Show Futurity Chairman of any changes of ownership of nominated animals. Transferred does are only eligible if transferred to a resident of Ohio; however bucks are still eligible even if transferred to an out-of-state owner. In keeping with the goal of identifying superior goats bred in Ohio, it is no longer a requirement that the exhibitor be an ODGA member. It also will be explained to the judge of the class that at no time do animals win by default because they are the only entry or one of a few entries. It must be the judges opinion that the animal is a worthy representative of his or her breed. If the judge does not feel there is an animal worthy of first place, then a second and third place premium can be awarded and first place withheld. There will be a Best In State class. This is a
class in which all futurity breed winners will compete for Best In State.
(no premiums will be given out for this but an award will be given at the
ODGA Conference). Futurity Show Chair: Lisa Begley, 481 Oak Grove Rd, Martinsville, OH
